Nanokado Hadaka Mairi (festival of naked men with loincloth for worship of god)

This is a bizarre festival that has been handed down for one thousand and hundreds of years in Yanaizu Town.
At the hour of the ox (8::30p.m.) January 7, men in loincloths dashes toward Kikkodo of Fukuman Kokuzo Bosatsu Enzoji Temple by the sign of the ringing bell all over the temple.
They clean their bodies with water in a washbasin and climb up a big ropes to reach the temple gong in a fierce competition in order to pray for good health and fulfillment of prayers and calling of good luck.
They say that you will have a good luck if you pick up an arrow with a mark of an amulet against evil called Go-o-hoin which will be scattered outside the temple.
