Yamodo Ryori (cooking for men working in mountains)
This local cuisine uses soba, wild vegetables and mushrooms which are the seasonal blessings

Due to its altitude of 940m, they were not able to produce rice and old days, so they ate coarse cereals, such as soba, millet and barn grass as their staple food in Hinoemata Village. Yamodo Ryori was a name of dishes for men working in mountains hunting or making wooden basis, which were prepared by women through efforts with limited ingredients.
At each inn in the village, you can enjoy some of deep-flavored soba cuisines.
